01 / The Challenge
Veridian ran on a heavily customized, 20-year-old ERP that only two employees fully understood. Field crews carried paper work orders; finance spent nine days closing each month; and every integration was a fragile point-to-point script.
02 / Our Approach
The thinking behind the build
The tempting move rewrite the ERP was the one we ruled out first. Twenty years of undocumented business rules made a big-bang replacement a bet-the-company risk. Instead we mapped the system into seams: which capabilities could be extracted cleanly (field service, work orders), which had to stay put for now (general ledger), and what data-ownership rules would keep both worlds consistent during the transition.
Each extracted service ran in parallel with its legacy module until the numbers matched for a full cycle only then did the old module go read-only. Momentum came from sequencing: field-service first, because paper work orders were the most visible pain, and its success funded organizational patience for the deeper financial modules.
03 / The Solution
What we built
Rather than a high-risk rip-and-replace, we modernized incrementally: an API layer over the legacy core, field-service and work-order management extracted into modern cloud services with mobile apps, and automated financial data flows retiring legacy modules one by one as replacements proved themselves.
“Converge modernized the systems our whole company runs on without a single day of disruption. I still don't quite know how they pulled that off.”
